Description

For generations, iconic Orcadian wine and spirit merchant, John Scott & Millers, offered its own remarkable range of fine wines, spirits and whisky blends. The business continues to thrive today under the name of Scott & Millers, and as part of The Bros. Ladder in Kirkwall, with this special 12-year-old Orkney single malt rekindling the shop bottling traditions of old. Selecting a whisky bottling of such a milestone has been a long and thoughtful process. Our chosen single malt was distilled in March of 2007 before being aged in a premium quality oak hogshead. Limited to just 343 bottles, it is a tribute to 19th-century company founder, John Scott, and the spirit of Orcadian entrepreneurship.

Nose
Savory, soy sauce, smoky, salty fishy note, dark chocolate with sea salt, sweet peat. With water: Sweet sherry, plums, salty toffee and almonds, light smoky peat.
Palate
Oily dark plums, figs, earthy salty and sweet peat, smoky nutmeg, dark sweet and salty chocolate and soy sauce. With water: Sweet plums, salty smoked almonds, then bitter dark chocolate notes.
Finish
Long, sweet and salty, nutty bitterness, tart, smoky peat, a little burnt oak then ends on sweet smoke. With water: Smoky sweet peat then very bitter, dry and tart.
