Description

Based in the ex-Portuguese colony of Goa, India, Paul John whiskies are produced under the watchful eye of their namesake and founder Paul P John. As is the case in other tropical distilleries, their whisky (which is aged almost exclusively in American oak barrels) matures at a comparably rapid rate, and the distillery continues to grow in esteem and popularity. Cask Type: Oloroso 48% ABV / 70cl

Nose
Aromatic with sherry-influenced notes of peach, apricot, molasses, and blood orange. Also, sherry-soaked fruit, dried peels, date and walnut loaf, buttery malt, Christmas cake, treacle sweetness, nuts, leather, light woody notes, summer fruit, cinnamon, printer's ink, complex baking spice, and candied citrus.
Palate
Sublime, filled with nutty chocolate and Melton Hunt cake. Also, blackberries, honeycomb, dark chocolate bitterness, oaky spice, orange oil, red fruits, pepper spice, olde candy, and a tidalwave of sherry pulling through malty roasty notes and candied citrus.
Finish
Long, intense, and sweet with delicious heavy spices imbibed from the Oloroso casks, a dash of coffee mocha, and sumptuous dark chocolate. Also, cinnamon, nutmeg, redcurrant jam, lingering notes of drying oak, fruit, and pepper, deep dark fruit, malt, and candied citrus.
