Description

A Welsh single malt whisky from Penderyn Distillery, known for reviving Wales' distilling heritage. This limited-edition 'Distillery Cask' release was bottled in 2025 at a cask strength of 61.9% ABV. It was matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in an extremely rare Carcavelos cask, a fortified white wine from Portugal, bringing oxidative complexity and regal heft. This single cask bottling, number 147/15, is one of only 240 bottles and was available exclusively at the distillery. It is non-chill filtered and has no age statement.

Explosion of flavor, warming, intense, burnt toffee, date syrup, dark chocolate, candied ginger, rum-soaked raisin, balance of sweetness and dryness, citrus, spice, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, saline, nutty, umami richness (like old Madeira), apples, pears, honey, vanilla, peppery spices, creamy caramel, apricots, figs, light oak spices.
Finish
Long, sweet, warm, very pleasant, tobacco, fig, roasted nuts, leather, spice, slightly drying with oak spices, touch of light pepper and ginger.
