Description

This Port Askaig 10 Year Old 10th Anniversary is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottled by Elixir Distillers to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Port Askaig series. It was distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2019 at 55.85% ABV. The whisky was matured in a combination of 25% first-fill bourbon barrels, 60% refill American oak hogsheads, and 15% solera sherry butts. It is a peated, non-chill filtered, and natural color expression, with only 10,000 bottles produced.

Nose
Aromas of fresh American pancakes with maple syrup and streaky bacon, charred notes of used matchsticks, and a floral hint. Sweet lemon, peaches, honey, light vanilla, cake batter, candied ginger, coal fire, lacquered barbecue meat, brine, antiseptic, and wet wool.
Palate
Rye bread and salted butter, maritime samphire, olive oil, butternut squash, zingy apples, and a backbone of peat smoke. Sweet, oily, citrus notes, freshly cut green apples, buttery sweetness, almonds, honey, roasted pineapple, coffee, salty marzipan, and a light peppery heat.
Finish
Charred orchard fruits, baking spices, a touch of liquorice. Long, very ashy, with hints of burnt herbs, pepper, and a light citrusy sweetness.
