Description
Redbreast is an Irish single pot still whiskey, which started out in the early 1900's. Produced in Dublin by W & A Gilbey; a wine merchant and bonder who received their spirit from the famous Bow Street Distillery (home of Jameson's whiskey). The whiskey takes its name from one of Gilbey's chairmen, nicknamed "Redbreast" due to his penchant for bird watching. Production moved from Dublin to Cork, and today, Redbreast is produced at the renowned Midleton Distillery in County Cork. This 12 Year Old Cask Strength edition is crafted from a mash bill of malted and unmalted barley, triple distilled in copper pot stills, and matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks. It is bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration, offering a rich and complex expression of traditional Irish pot still whiskey. [5, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 18]
