Description
Redbreast is an Irish single pot still whiskey, which started out in the early 1900's. Produced in Dublin by W & A Gilbey; a wine merchant and bonder who received their spirit from the famous Bow Street Distillery (home of Jameson's whiskey). The whiskey takes its name from one of Gilbey's chairmen, nicknamed 'Redbreast' due to his penchant for bird watching. Production moved from Dublin to Cork. This elegantly sherried Redbreast was aged entirely in second-fill oloroso casks, making for a complex dram that balances notes of dried fruit and nuts with the distinctive spiciness of Irish pot still whiskey. After almost two decades in the Midleton distillery warehouses in County Cork, it shows excellent maturity with fine tannins and hints of dark chocolate. This is a limited-edition bottling exclusively for customers of The Whisky Exchange.
