Maltiply Tasting Profile
Nose
A succulent medley of exotic fruits, mango, pineapple, blood orange and ripe red berries are complemented by fresh herbs, aromatic oils and wood spices. Vanilla sweetness and treacle toffee add to the richness, while walnuts and toasted oak acknowledge the contribution from a supreme cask selection.
Palate
Incredibly rich in texture with a luxuriously fruity introduction. Ripe red fleshed plums, black cherries and summer berries are balanced by the prickle of a hint of chili oil. The taste evolves as cherry menthol introduces vanilla and cinnamon sweet spices combined with red pepper, nutmeg and toasted oak for an intriguing complexity.
Finish
A satisfyingly long balance of ripe fruit and wood spices, worthy of a journey of nearly three decades.

The cask mix is clear: bourbon, sherry and port, with Ruby Port named in the product title. I like that the notes give the fruit plenty of room without losing the oak and spice. Mango, pineapple and red berries lead on the nose; the palate shifts to plums, black cherries, vanilla and cinnamon. The long finish keeps ripe fruit alongside wood spice. It sounds rich and layered, though the range of flavours may be more than someone wanting a plain, direct whiskey is after.

There is an abundance of fruit here, but the way spice and oak give it structure is what appeals to me. Mango, pineapple and blood orange lead the nose alongside vanilla and toasted oak. The palate shifts to ripe red fleshed plums and black cherries, with a hint of chili oil before cinnamon, nutmeg and toasted oak come through. That progression suits my preference for vanilla, spice and oak without letting those notes flatten the fruit. The long finish keeps ripe fruit and wood spices in balance. This is a rich, layered character rather than a restrained one, yet the contrast between fruit and spice keeps the sweetness from becoming the whole story.

The ripe fruit sounds like the draw here, with a hint of chili oil and red pepper giving it an edge. That contrast feels more appealing than sweetness alone, though the richness may be a lot if you prefer a lighter whisky.
