Description

An iconic Lowland malt whisky distillery that is currently owned and operated by Ian Macleod Distillers. It developed a cult status among connoisseurs following the unpopular decision by United Distillers to close it in 1993, laying dormant for over three decades before resuming production in 2023. This is a single cask Rosebank 1990 Vintage, 18 Year Old Single Malt bottled by Douglas Laing in 2008 as part of their Old Malt Cask range. It was matured in a refill butt/hogshead and bottled at 50% ABV.

Nose
Fruity, particularly on tangy citrus, tinned nectarines, mandarins, cut grass, pepper, sweetness. Rich bouquet with lychee, Concorde pear skins, jasmine, mahogany flooring, icing sugar, subtle crushed mint. Fresh, honey-sprinkled barley, light, citrusy and floral, with whiffs of pollen, gentle beeswax, hints of lavender, gooseberry, and herbal accents.
Palate
Rounded, medium body, with sweet fruit, orange, hints of oak, apple blossom, and toffee. Prominent floral notes continue, with lavender oil, sweet apples, almond croissant, pine nuts, leafy, and malt loaf. Sweet and creamy, with generous honey, fruit marmalade, spices like cinnamon and light pepper, a waxy edge, fading to milk chocolate and herbs.
Finish
Toffee, fruit, floral, with a dry ginger note. Warming hints of spicy oak, slowly drying.
