Description

Morrison & MacKay are relatively new to the independent bottling scene, although they are definitely not amateurs in the whisky world. The Morrison in the company name refers to one of the sons of the legendary Stanley P. Morrison, Brian. Morrison & MacKay try to run their company in a way that is least damaging to the environment with a particular focus on avoiding using unnecessary packaging. This Royal Brackla expression was distilled in 2008 and matured for 12 years in wood that previously held Oloroso sherry, then bottled in 2020 by Càrn Mòr for their Strictly Limited range.

Fragrant and floral with fresh orchard fruits, sweet vanilla custard, hints of ginger, stewed plum, tart cranberry, orange, lemon, brown sugar, cardamom, raisins, apple blossom, date pinwheel cookies, latte notes, and baking spices.
Palate
Medium mouthfeel with marmalade, barley sugar, citrus peels, dried fruit, caramel, white pepper, cinnamon, wood spice, cardamom, clove, fig, toffee, plum, and balanced sweet and sour notes.
Finish
Subtle cedar and honey, medium length with soft, oily oak, sweeter fruits of orange and raspberry, black pepper, drying oak, and an aftertaste of bell peppers.
