Description

The Royal Salute 21 Year Old The Lost Blend is a blend of scarce whiskies from stills that are no longer in production, combined with other precious malt and grain Scotch Whiskies. This blend features the now gone Imperial distillery at its heart, opened in 1897 and in operation for 46 years only. It also includes peated Caperdonich malt and Dumbarton Green grain whisky. Crafted by Master Blender Sandy Hyslop, it is the first peated whisky in the Royal Salute core range and was introduced as a travel retail exclusive. It is housed in a beautifully crafted porcelain flagon.

Historical context
Royal Salute was created in 1953 for Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. The Imperial Distillery, a key component, was named in honor of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

Nose
Balanced and complex with notes of sweet orange and peaches intermingled perfectly with smouldering bonfire embers. Floral, with almonds and lime orange.
Palate
Sweet, honey, citrus and fresh fruits. Juicy sweet pears, fresh hazelnuts, charred orange rind completed perfectly with aromatic smoky peat. Black pepper, cinnamon, cloves. Sweet nuts, vanilla and oak wood.
Finish
Long and smooth with a wisp of smoke. Progressively dry, smoky and spicy. Bold and lingering, packed with fruit and oak wood. Hints of melted chocolate and light smoke.
