Description

Scapa was founded in 1885 and used to be known as the only truly 'unpeated' Island malt. It was damaged by fire in 1919, but rebuilt. In 1959 a Lomond still was installed which ran as intended until 1979. Production ceased in 1994 with occasional runs being done by the crew from nearby Highland Park. In 2004, however it was released as single malt and a major refurbishment of the distillery began. ...

Honeyed tropical, citrus, and orchard fruits, vanilla custard, butterscotch, peach, apricot, green apple, hazelnut praline, earthy/umami, gingerbread, cinnamon, salty brine, black pepper, and a gentle chili warmth with herbaceous notes of sage, basil, and lemon.
Finish
Creamy with banana, vanilla custard, milk chocolate, balanced oak char, fruity and spiced, peppery heat, dryness like black or mint tea, and salty brine.
