Description

Scapa was founded in 1885 and used to be known as the only truly 'unpeated' Island malt. It was damaged by fire in 1919, but rebuilt. In 1959 a Lomond still was installed which ran as intended until 1979. Production ceased in 1994 with occasional runs being done by the crew from nearby Highland Park. In 2004, however it was released as single malt and a major refurbishment of the distillery began. This 2003 vintage Scapa single malt was bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange in August 2022, after being matured in first-fill American oak barrels for 19 years. It is a rare, cask strength, limited edition release.
