Description

Schenley O.F.C. Canadian Whisky is produced by the Schenley company. The brand was first made in 1955 at the Schenley distillery in Valleyfield, Quebec. The 'O.F.C.' stands for 'Original Fine Canadian'. It was also distilled at the Black Velvet Distillery in Lethbridge, Alberta. This whisky has been recognized with numerous accolades, including 25 Gold Medals for product excellence in 27 Monde Selection competitions. While older bottlings often carried age statements (e.g., 8 years in Canada, 6 years in the US), newer releases, like this one, typically do not.

Nose
Typically Canadian with a rye-like character, hints of bourbon, caramel, vanilla, dusty grain fields, sandalwood, oak spices, cinnamon, clove, and almond-like marzipan. It presents a smooth, sweet aroma with notes of corn and a delicate, understated mango.
Palate
Zesty with a noticeable bite, a light buttery texture, hot rye spice, and light corn syrup. Predominant sweet corn and vanilla notes are soothed by caramel and bourbon vanilla. It starts smooth, developing into spiciness and dryness, with light, fruity notes of green apples, lemon, and grapefruit, and a bit more rye spirit.
Finish
A buttery texture leads to a longer finish than expected, transitioning from dry rye to honeyed bourbon with trails of buttery caramel. It can be sharp and oily, but mellows to an agreeable corn-fueled sweetness and a palate-cleansing citrus zest, with lingering oak, rye, melon, and pears.
