Description

This is a 12-year-old small batch single malt Scotch whisky released by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) in 2023 to celebrate their 40th anniversary. The SMWS was founded in Edinburgh in 1983 by Phillip 'Pip' Hills. This bottling, named 'Maverick', pays homage to the founder's pioneering spirit.

Nose
Rich toffee apples, lemon citrus with sherbet sugar, oranges, hints of banana, rich sherry and red wine. Aromas of freshly waxed marble floors, apricots, peaches, plums, Assam tea, fig, apple and raisin bread pudding.
Palate
Very smooth, creamy mouthfeel, sweet and sherried with luscious Christmas fruit cake and candied orange. Creamy chocolate with coffee grounds, American-style blueberry and banana pancakes with lemon juice and maple syrup, cardamom and orange-spiced rhubarb on fluffy French toast.
Finish
Heady, sweet, punchy spicy pepper with a little ginger, lemon and liquorice. Dark chocolate, marshmallows and a sherry mango trifle.
