Description

This is a superb single malt Scotch whisky from one of Speyside's most famous distilleries, bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. While the distillery remains a secret, it is known for its independence and massively sherried whiskies. This is Batch 1, a limited release of 600 bottles, adorned with a comic book-style label depicting a man breaking into a distillery warehouse. It was bottled in 2013 at a natural strength of 55.4% ABV and is non-chill filtered.

Big, creaking oak and sherry, with hints of soft smoke, black coffee, dates, sweet sherry, nuts, golden syrup, sultanas, dried apricot, salted kumquats, leather, sappy pine, tea tree oil, nutmeg, pepper, cinnamon, and toasted cereal.
Palate
Rich entry with notes of peppery oak, ground almond, pralines, dark chocolate, brandy butter, intense sherry, spices, blackberries, cinnamon, clove spiciness, sharp cereal, dried apricot, marmalade, fruit preserve, raw sugar, sour black cherries, green mango with salt, cayenne pepper, nutmeg, cardamom, fresh ginger, and a grassy, starchy, resinous character.
Finish
Peppery, nutty, spiced, rich, smooth, with red fruit jams, a crack of black pepper, leafy green herbs, toasted oak, salted caramel, tart apricot, grape skin, and a medium-long, dry finish with trailing ashy smokiness.
