Eigashima Shin Serene whisky is named after Mr. Hiraishi, the eighth generation of Eigashima Shuzo. It is described as mild and soft, reminiscent of the Seto Inland Sea, and light and smooth on the palate. Crafted by Toji, the chief executive of Eigashima sake brewery, it is a blend of whisky aged 3 years in a combination of sherry, bourbon, and Japanese shochu barrels, resulting in a well-balanced fusion.

The citrus, light honey and comfortable spice give this blend an approachable character. I like that the mellow peach-and-almond finish sounds softer than the livelier notes. It comes across as balanced rather than especially bold.
