Inspired by a visit to the Kilchoman Distillery in 2012, Taiko Nakamura started thinking about setting up a distillery of his own back home. Eventually he did and Shizuoka distillery was opened in February of 2017. The Distillery has purchased part of the equipment from the legendary Karuizawa at auction.
