Toasted oak, vanilla and caramel give it a clear, familiar direction, while baking spice and dry tannin keep the sweetness in check. That mix is appealing to me, and the long, warming finish sounds like it holds onto the oak and cocoa.
sunbeam_atlas8 JunThe Toasted Oak Cask detail suits the clear oak thread, which carries from the nose into a palate of brown sugar, vanilla, and dry tannin. I like that the cocoa and baking spice add contrast rather than pushing the notes toward sweetness alone. The finish is described as long and warming, with charred oak and dry cocoa keeping that sweeter toffee note in check. A focused, cask-led character, though the dry tannin may not appeal to everyone.
orangepeelkoi28 FebToasted oak and vanilla appeal.
