Description

Making up half of the 2014 no age statement releases from Singleton, Singleton of Dufftown Sunray is a 40% ABV dram that has oodles of sweetness. The nose is packed with honey, vanilla, apples and blackcurrant, and on the palate expect stewed apple, more honey and a malty aftertaste. It is aged in American bourbon casks, specifically toasted bourbon casks, which impart a smooth, honeyed, and intense character with vanilla sweetness and aromas of blackcurrant and baked apple.

Vanilla and honey, apple and blackcurrant, grassy honey, dehydrated apple with cinnamon, strudel, dark syrupy blackcurrant, zesty grapefruit, lychee, new leather, cherry drops, heather honey, floral notes, Demerara sugar, baked apple, bramble.
Palate
Soft stewed apples, thick honeyed texture and taste, hint of malt, malty cereal, vanilla, blanched almond, grapefruit zest, nutmeg, cinnamon spice, pastry, sweet and rounded with soft spice amongst fruity notes, citrus, mild spiciness from the casks, dryer and slightly metallic, toasted coconut.
Finish
Fairly short, warm and drying, red apple, black pepper spice, cinnamon, sweet with blackcurrants and vanilla, flinty with notes of cleansing aniseed, resin, menthol-fresh conclusion.
