Description

This Slanj Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is the brand's non chill-filtered First Edition, a specialist blend of single cask single malts primarily from the Speyside and Highland regions of Scotland. It is matured and finished in Sherry and Bourbon casks, with a blend composed of 70% Speyside single malt matured in sherry casks and 30% Highland single malt matured in bourbon casks. The whisky delivers a smooth and rounded profile with fruit, subtle sweetness, and gentle spice, deliberately holding back on any smoke.

Nose
The nose - led by fruit loaf, backed by walnuts and kitchen spices - immediately reveals the high use of European oak ex-sherry casks. After a while, the aroma broadens into fruit cake, with raisins and sultanas, on a distinctly buttery base (crumpet with melted butter?). Well integrated: a Highland nose, with no phenolic or maritime notes.
Palate
A creamy, full-bodied texture and a taste which starts sweet (with a suggestion of dates) and finishes medium-length and surprisingly spicy (powdered ginger?) and somewhat mouth-cooling (Sichuan pepper). A drop of water softens the mouth-feel and reduces the sweetness and spiciness.
Finish
A pleasant full-bodied blended malt, with a well-matured and well-integrated flavour profile, and a distinct personality.
