Description

This is a 20-year-old single malt whisky from Highland Park distillery, independently bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) as Cask No. 4.385. It was distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2023 at a cask strength of 54.7% ABV. This release, known as 'Beach bonfire blowout', is non-chill filtered and was matured in a combination of refill ex-bourbon HTMC hogsheads and ex-Islay Oloroso sherry hogsheads. Only 210 bottles were produced for this limited edition release.

Nose
Fragrant and briny, with hints of sweetness. Heather honey, dates, sandalwood, and juicy black cherries. Castelvetrano olives. Oolong tea, or is it a little lapsang souchong? Red pepper flakes. Extra-dark chocolate.
Palate
Medium-light texture. Arrives with grapefruit peel and honey, then develops to intense Oolong tea. The tea turns slightly smokier, nuttier, and earthier towards the finish.
Finish
Long. More Oolong tea, dark chocolate, and some elderflower.
