Description

Inspired by the legendary '2001: A Space Odyssey', this label embarks on a celestial quest to uncover the whisky's origins. Similar to the spacecraft in the film, this batch from a clandestine Speyside distillery ventures to unveil the essence of Scotch. Aged for 25 years in an ex-Bourbon barrel since October 1997, it offers a stellar exploration of flavour and history.

Nose
Bright and summery with barley, vanilla, crisp apples, ripe mango, and honey. Floral notes of honeysuckle and lemongrass, along with vibrant barley, vanilla pods, green apples, juicy tropical fruits, and zesty honey. Light aromas of dusty orchard fruits like peach, pear, and yellow apple, complemented by subtle vanilla, aniseed, and a hint of pineapple.
Palate
Features a creamy vanilla, apple sauce, honey, lemon curd, peppery spices, and bitters, offering a lovely mouthfeel. Waves of creamy vanilla and cooked apple lead, joined by lemon posset, set honey, and peppery spices. Some describe a thin mouthfeel with flavors of orange, pear, red apples, subtle caramel, a touch of wood, a hint of ground grey pepper, and malty notes. Others find prominent woodiness, bitters, vanilla, green and red apples, cooked spinach leaves, unlit cigar, menthol tic-tacs, and a medley of spices including pepper, tabasco sauce, and clove.
Finish
Long and peppery, spicier, leaving a drying aftertaste. Dense old oak brings a drying finish with notes of tobacco, pepper, and baking spice.
