- Nose
- The nose opens with smoked red fruits, cranberries, strawberries, cherries in abundance. The sherry is quite prominent, but in a sweeter, creamier way. There's some sea salt, wet rope and pebbles appearing, alongside wet earth and brambles. There's a nice undertone of Springbank peat here that's both quite noticeable but well integrated with the other aromas. Other notes include medjool dates, raisins, demerara sugar, blueberry, fondant icing, lemon drizzle, fig jam, honeycomb, treacle sponge, ginger-nut, parma violets and almonds.
- Palate
- The palate opens with more of those red fruits, cranberries and blackcurrant dominating, with a hefty earthy undertone of freshly turned soil and dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is a touch lacking, it feels just a bit thinner than expected, but the finish does seem to last a good while, with digestive biscuits and spent coffee grounds. There's also a hint of zingy citrus that moves into richer chocolate and coffee notes with a bit of smoke. Other notes include cappuccino foam, tiramisu, muddled strawberries, Christmas cake, marzipan, cinnamon, chopped hazelnuts, liquorice, maple syrup, wild berries and blackberries.
- Finish
- Long and assertive, with salted chocolate caramels, smoky fruit, and a distinctive ashy note. A sweet and juicy finish with notes of syrup and sugared shortbread. Also described as creamy, velvety with a salty note, wood shavings, burnt embers and milk chocolate.
