Description

A highly collectible 21-year-old single malt from Springbank, released in 1998. Springbank is unique among Scotland's distilleries, performing every step of the production process on-site, including malting, distillation, maturation, and bottling. This expression is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry (including Fino sherry) casks, bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration or added coloring. It is a lightly peated whisky, showcasing the distinctive character of Campbeltown malts. This limited annual release of 2400 bottles is highly sought after by collectors and connoisseurs. Nose
Rich and delicate, with fresh peaches, tropical fruits, and plums. It also presents a farmy Springbank note with wood and musty undertones, caramel, fudge, milk chocolate, orange rind, salted caramel, honey, dark chocolate, vanilla, gentle peat smoke, sea salt, leather, tobacco, toffee, cereal, strawberries, and watermelon. Palate
Powerful, complex, and smooth. Initially sharp but with full richness, caramel turning slightly bitter, fudge, hay, and subdued fruit with peach stones. It is beautifully balanced with layers of rich fruit, toffee, oak spice, citrus, subtle maritime character, delicate smoke, and depth from extended maturation. A dry creamy oiliness, sugared almonds, and a dash of cinnamon are also present. [2, 3, 7, 13]
Finish
Long and full, with bitter fruit like star anise, hay, oak, caramel, wood, fudge, and straightforward sherry notes. It has an elegant, long-lasting aftertaste with lingering dried fruit, oak tannins, gentle spice, and a warming coastal salinity.
