Description

A revered single malt distillery in Campbeltown that has operated since 1828. This is a special limited edition, 24-year-old single malt, distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2020. It was independently bottled by Sansibar for Whisky-Maniac as part of 'The Clans Label' series, with only 132 bottles produced.

Nose
A lot of wine notes, moist wood, grape must, hints of sour plums and strawberry. Classic Springbank character with old metal tools, engine workshops, light farmy notes, soot, smoked ham, nougat and tobacco. Complex, with earthy notes and wine. Dried apricots, salty/spicy notes, walnut, sweetness and acidity of sweet wines.
Palate
Sweet and sour notes, plums, red berries and grapes, mixed with butterscotch, leather and a pinch of salt. Orange peels, roasted nuts, coffee beans and chocolate. Tobacco leaves, sweet mustard, earthy undertone and dried herbs. Pineapple, walnut, dates, pumpernickel.
Finish
Not extremely long, with savoury/meaty hints, drying oak, salt, wet earth and sour fruit element. Walnut, coffee chocolate, dates.
