- Nose
- Multi-layered, dusty and oily, like an old workshop with mild smokiness. Red apples, sweet nectarines, briny, salty, chalky layer. Delicate, with steeliness, chiselled limestone, hewn rocks, reduced orchard fruits, Campbeltown funk (diesel, engine oils, pungent smoked unripe tropical fruit, ozone), damp earthiness. Nutty and caramel with brine and seaweed, hint of exotic fruits, dusty smouldering wood.
- Palate
- Not too nippy for 55% ABV. Chalky note, old nectarines, barley water, orange slice, warehouse funkiness, slightly peat-smoked, old-fruit sweetness. Light, sweet and floral like honey, then fiery wooden, cinnamon and black pepper spiciness. Light, sooty charcoal chimney smoke, zesty lemon note, creamy, sweet flavours. Bold and impactful, sherbet covered citrus, plenty of leather, vegetal notes (tomatoes, chilli peppers), slight salinity, more smoke than the nose (mineral, coal dust, ash, chalkiness). Sooty, tobacco smoke that has gone stale.
- Finish
- Slightly nippy, rather dry with brine, chalky barley water, warehouse funk, apple peel. Lingers for a long time with a hint of peat smoke. Long, slightly chalky, plenty of ashy citrus-led smoke. Brine and old smoking rooms continues, lemon kippers, heat from chilli peppers.
