Nose
Perfumed with vanilla, soft leather, lanolin, and lavender. Features 1970s Speyside fruits like apricots, bananas, pineapple, and tangerines, with almond oil, beehive notes (honey, beeswax), aromatic frangipane, spearmint, and a light mineral/earthy touch. Also notes of tarte tatin with black pepper, wax-polished oak, spiced butter, marzipan, honeysuckle, heathery meadows, and candy bracelets. Hints of hazelnut, forest, burnt lemon tart, and refined tea leaves.
Palate
Very oily and fresh with tropical fruits (peach, pineapple), apple pastry, and fresh mint. Light pepper, mocha, subtle camphor, and hints of old books and damp leaves. Buttery mouthfeel with thick apple sauce and spiced pastry. Complex layers of polished, spicy, buttery, and fragrant oak develop, with candied notes and damp, leafy rancio. Clear texture with a sense of dryness, apple jam, sweet tea, and oriental incense. Creamy texture with chocolate sauce, toasted malt, and a little red bean paste.
Finish
Medium long, malty, oily, and lightly honeyed. Offers more cocoa powder, black coffee, and licorice-flavored oak. Superbly honeyed, slightly liquoricy/mentholy, and a little balsamic. Licorice-based finish lasts long, with ripe peaches emerging at the end.
