Description

This Strathisla 2003 13 Year Old is part of The Distillery Reserve Collection, a limited release of rare and exceptional whiskies from Chivas Brothers Single Malt Whisky Distilleries. It was distilled on 18th September 2003 and bottled on 25th May 2017 from a single 1st fill sherry butt. This single cask edition is bottled at cask strength of 58.3% ABV and is non-chill filtered. Strathisla is one of Scotland's oldest and most picturesque distilleries, known for its role in Chivas Regal blends.

Nose
Dried red and black cherries, cola bottle sweeties, raisins, leather, chocolate, fudge, rum & raisin, with hints of rubbery/sulphuric notes, cloves, treacle, molasses, toffee, walnut, fig & cinnamon. Also, dry sherry, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, and sweet dried fruits.
Palate
Sharp and spicy, with eucalyptus, clove, liquorice root, pepper, treacle toffee, molasses, chocolate, nutty brazil nut and walnut, caramel, cola bottles, fermented ginger, vanilla essence, and dark chocolate crème brulee. Also, almonds, peanuts, syrupy berries, strawberry, and a touch of leather.
Finish
Long, molasses, chocolate, dark caramelised woody sugars, mouth coating, rum & raisin, and cola bottles. Drying with hints of red fruits, mint, anise, vanilla, cherries, old wood, and a bit of fruit salad.
