The 2014 bottling of Talisker's annual 25-year-old single malt. The Talisker distillery on the Isle of Skye was founded by the brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill in 1830. Nose
Delicate and fruity with notes of honeysuckle, beeswax, pineapple, lychee, and citrus (mandarin, orange, apple). Underlying hints of sweet fudge, caramel, licorice, and brown sugar, alongside a subtle maritime influence of sea air, salinity, and gentle, pervasive smoke, with a touch of earthy peat and wood polish.
Palate
Rich and creamy mouthfeel, with a balanced peppery kick. Sweetness of honey, toffee, and dried apricots, complemented by tropical fruit syrup, juicy orange, and salted caramel. Maritime notes of brine and sea salt are present, along with a developing smoky character, hints of licorice, aniseed, and fresh-cut wood.
Finish
Long and warming, with a sweet smoky character, cedar wood, and lingering floral notes. Peppery and slightly tannic, with a persistent salinity that fades into distant campfires.
