Nose
Lightly smoky with hints of chalk and maritime salt, soft vanillin alongside malt and smouldering campfire. Immediate mineral and lightly smoky with hints of chalk and salt, joined by notes of fine sand and seaweed drying on a hot day. Aromas open with light coal smoke, sea spray, and fine sand warming under the sun, threaded with chalk, rock salt, and drying seaweed. There's fudge, lemon peel, and barley sugar.
Palate
A deliciously light oil-smooth texture introduces a sweet richly malty start, soon balanced by a dash of salt mid-palate and surging waves of smoky pepper. The first sip lands sweet and rich, bringing lemon curd, orange zest, and chalky rock candy over smooth malt and coastal brine. Then the pepper wakes up. Thunderous chili warmth, nougat, almond, and seasoned oak roll in, the smoke turning drier and more mouthcoating with each measured sip.
Finish
Long, with a peppery warmth and a fine gentle chilli pepper 'catch', leaving a peppery heat on the tongue. The finish stretches for ages with peppery heat, cocoa, and bonfire ash over warm malt, leaving the tongue tingling and the cheeks flushed. Salt and smoke stay longest. A faint lemon oil note flickers back in, tying the whole journey together.
