Nose
Mellow and drying, with a touch of spice. Notes of sticky malt loaf with sultanas and dates, fading to maritime notes of clean sea air, sea salt, and sand dunes. Mineral notes of chalk and a light, winey hint of macerated grape skins. A suggestion of peat smoke, becoming smokier with water.
Palate
Creamy-smooth mouthfeel with a powerful taste, lightly sweet notes, and hints of rich fruit. Becomes very salty, then intensely peppery and gunpowder smoky. Dark berries, nutmeg, and caramel.
Finish
Long, spicy with a trademark catch of chilli pepper, tending toward mouth-cooling Sichuan pepper. More smoke and sea, cinnamon-dusted pastries and jam. Medium-long, with caramel and chocolate. Ashy smoke lingers.
