Nose
The Margaux cask is immediately apparent, with stewed bramble fruits, vanilla ice cream drizzled with raspberry coulis, and milk chocolate shavings. Beneath, a delicate thread of caramelised sugar and polished oak adds depth. Redcurrants and black cherries leap out first, balanced by baked apples and orange peel, with cedar spice and a faint herbal note.
Palate
Impressively balanced, bringing forward lush red berries complemented by a smooth, creamy sweetness. Dark forest fruits, cassis, and plum jam, followed by waves of dark chocolate, espresso, and black pepper. The Highland malt backbone keeps things structured with biscuity malt and a flicker of citrus zest. A splash of water brightens it up, revealing fresh notes of crisp apples and pears.
Finish
Long and pleasing, as the red fruit notes gradually ease away, leaving a gentle hint of chocolate and a lightly tannic warmth. Lingering red wine tannins, cocoa nibs, and a subtle mint leaf freshness.
