Description

The Tomatin 12 Year Old is a beautifully balanced and accessible Highland single malt Scotch whisky, known for its smooth and silky character. It is matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon barrels and ex-Spanish Sherry casks, with some expressions finished for six to nine months in Oloroso Sherry casks. Bottled at 43% ABV, it often features non-chill filtration and natural color, reflecting the distillery's modern approach to marrying fruit-driven spirit with expressive wood maturation.

Nose
Delicate aromas of wild heather, pine, and cedar evolve into crème caramel, ripe apple, pear, and hints of mango. There are also notes of burnt sugar, cooked apples, praline, marzipan, sugared almonds, and a touch of charred wood, with a noticeable sherry influence including red fruits, licorice, almonds, and vanilla.
Palate
Medium-bodied and smooth, with notes of stewed apples and pears, malt sweetness, and buttery toffee. A soft nutty complexity emerges, complemented by warm oak spice and light citrus. Sweet candied oranges, vanilla bean, lemon oil, and gingersnap cookies are present, with the sherry adding darker fruit and toasted nuts.
Finish
Clean and gently sustained, with lingering fruit-cake echoes, subtle spice, and a soft oak warmth. It is medium-long, carrying soft fruit flavors, including coconut, pear, and vanilla.
