Description

A Highland malt distillery that for a time during the 1970s was the largest in Scotland. In 1986 it became the first Japanese-owned Scotch distillery when it was acquired by Takara Shuzo Co and under its ownership today it provides fillings for the Antiquary blend as well as its single malt brands. This 50-year-old expression celebrates the distillery's 125th anniversary, distilled in 1971 and bottled in 2022 from a first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead. Only 125 bottles were produced, presented in a Glencairn crystal decanter within a luxury Italian crafted wooden box, accompanied by a miniature and a leather carry bag.

Nose
Dried tropical fruits are first to greet the nose before a mix of nuts, dark chocolate and honey.
Palate
The palate is slow to open with gentle hints of fresh orange and apricot, it then becomes more intense with notes of dried fruit and spices before a wave of Oloroso Sherry driven flavours.
Finish
The flavour recedes, leaving an elegant, rich sweetness to linger.
