Description

Tomatin Distillery was founded in 1897 and spent most of its life producing whisky for the blending industry; however, in the 1970s it was Scotland's biggest producer of single malt whisky. In 1986, the distillery became the first fully Japanese-owned Scottish distillery when Takara Shuzo joined forces with trading company Okara. This 21-year-old single malt from Tomatin is a limited release, matured exclusively in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled at cask strength and is non-chill filtered.

Nose
Lashings of vanilla, coconut, and caramel with pleasant oak spice. Notes of baked apples, citrus, and soft floral aromas, along with sweet coconut cream, stewed apples, honeyed notes, freshly baked brioche, croissants, and butter biscuits.
Palate
Delicious notes of apple crumble, freshly baked croissants, and Manuka honey, providing a sweet, warming base with layers of ginger, clove, and star anise. Creamy and sweet with peaches, stewed apples, lemony sourness, barley sugar, and vanilla custard.
Finish
Long, fruity, and buttery, with medium length, initially sweet, generous vanilla, and some drying spicy notes.
