Nose
strong with a burst of red fruits and sweetness — raspberry coulis, strawberry jam, and candied cherries. Behind that: honeycomb, toffee, and vanilla fudge. There's a floral note (rose petals, maybe hibiscus) that lifts the richness. With time, a gentle spice emerges — cinnamon and nutmeg — alongside a touch of malt biscuit.
Palate
Juicy and vibrant palate. Ripe plums, cranberries, and redcurrant jelly up front. The port cask really sings here: jammy sweetness balanced by a nutty dryness. Mid-palate shifts towards milk chocolate, hazelnut praline, and a touch of oak char. The spirit's creamy malt character still peeks through, keeping it recognisably Tomatin. The ABV is strong but approachable — water teases out more fruit and softens the tannins.
Finish
medium-long. Red berry compote, cocoa powder, and lingering wine tannins. A light peppery prickle remains with a drying oak and a final echo of honeyed malt.
