Description

Tomatin Distillery was founded in 1897 and spent most of its life producing whisky for the blending industry. Since 2004, Tomatin has been focusing on single malts. This 15-year-old expression is part of the limited edition Portuguese Collection, distilled in 2006 and initially matured in traditional Scotch Whisky oak casks for over 8 years. On April 23rd, 2015, it was transferred to Moscatel de Setúbal casks for a further 7 years of secondary maturation, resulting in a unique flavor profile. Sweet aromas of marmalade, honey and salted caramel with a hint of citrus, vibrant honeyed grapes, orange blossom, sweet musk, light vanilla, and tropical fruits.
Palate
Ginger and star anise, sweet berries and chocolate, with hints of sour herbs, nutmeg, mulled wine, bitter orange peels, cranberries, orange, apricot, caramel, cream, and honey cake with spice.
Finish
Long, sweet, dessert wine-like, with notes of orange creamsicle, caramel cookies, a touch of spice, and a lingering fruity flavor, medium length, peppery and earthy.
