Description

A bottle of Tria Prima Enchantress Australian Single Malt Whisky, Batch No.1. This is a Traditional Release matured in Apera oak casks, specifically a vatting of two 100 litre casks that previously held McWilliams Apera. The casks were decanted, scraped, and given a low char to achieve a well-balanced whisky. It is bottled at 46% ABV and is non-chill filtered with no artificial colouring. This release was launched in June 2021.

Nose
Slightly restrained early but with emerging furniture polish, toffee apple, sherry and black tea notes and a faint sultana/raisin fruitiness, subtle resin and ginger, nutmeg and cloves. With time, winey notes (dry oloroso sherry) emerge more fully, developing classic nuttiness, tannins, spices, cream, and autumn leaves.
Palate
Syrupy, slightly oily, well rounded with medium dry sherry and tea tannins. Mouthcoating yet crisp, with savoury and earthy notes evolving into nut-skins from hazelnuts or walnuts. Dried fruit, cream sherry and light oak.
Finish
Warm and fruity/nutty. More tea and wood tannins, very forest floor with autumn leaves and medium dry sherry, a lingering bitter astringency from the wood that freshens up the tail. Delicate leather.
