Description

The Darkness! range offers a different take on many distillery's traditional styles, with each expression finished for over 3 months in specially commissioned octave casks from The Speyside Cooperage. These teeny tiny little Sherry casks are only a tenth the size of a tradition Butt, so the releases are extremely limited! Nose
Blackberry, chocolate gateaux, apricot, a hint of Christmas cake, biscuit dough. Buttered malt loaf with plenty of raisins. Lighter floral notes with vanilla, and perhaps a little mint chocolate ice cream. Oranges, Jasmine, Cinnamon. Caramels and toffee. Bready note.
Palate
More biscuity notes, now with some bourbon biscuits. Good kick of cinnamon and ginger. Medium to full bodied mouthfeel. Fruit, with red apples, plums and prunes. Walnuts and hazelnuts, with candied orange. Woody arrival with juicy raisins and sultanas. Cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. Dates.
Finish
Lingering hints of old sherry richness. Long finish which leaves nice notes of red fruits, coffee, and spice. More oak towards the finish.
