Description

The Alister Walker Whisky Company is based in Grangemouth and was established in 2018. The founder of the independent bottler Alister Walker has over 20 years of experience in the whisky industry that dates back to January of 1997. The whiskies themselves are bottled under the name Infrequent Flyers, most of the releases are single malt but from time to time they will release a single grain. This particular release is a 14-year-old single malt from an undisclosed Islay distillery, distilled in 2006 and bottled in 2020.

Nose
Earthy peat, with bonfire smoke, medicinal touches and grassy sweetness. Autumnal. Sweet peat and char. Chimney smoke. Very soft medicinal Islay notes emerge.
Palate
Sweet and smoky, with barbecued banana and burnt brown sugar leading into vanilla buttercream and salted caramel. A lovely pleasant sweetness on the palate - butterscotch and custard creams in sync with the peaty, phenolic flavours. Sweet barbeque - crispy bacon on pancakes doused with maple syrup. Salted popcorn. Peppery notes reveal themselves on addition of water.
Finish
Maple syrup and smoky bacon linger. Sweet, and a little spicy.
