Description
Julian Van Winkle III produced a very small amount of these 'Lawrenceburg, black wax' Lot B's for a special Japanese client. They were produced and exported 'off and on from 1997 through January 2002'. This particular bottle is a clear glass variant, indicating it was produced post-1999 but pre-2002. It is a seldom seen, black wax export variant of the Van Winkle 12yr Lot B Special Reserve from the Lawrenceburg era. This highly regarded wheated bourbon is aged for a full twelve years, offering a softer, rounder profile compared to rye-based bourbons. It is produced in Kentucky and matured in new charred American oak barrels, emphasizing balance, elegance, and depth developed through extended aging. The wheated mash bill contributes to a smooth texture and gentle sweetness, allowing oak influence, vanilla, and caramel notes to integrate seamlessly over time. Bottled at 90.4 proof, Lot B delivers richness without excess heat, making it an approachable and sought-after release in the Van Winkle lineup.
