Description

Waterford Micro Cuvée Rue du Nil is a limited edition Irish single malt whisky, born from a collaboration between Waterford Distillery and La Maison du Whisky, inspired by French Chef Gregory Marchand and Wine Director Aurélien Massé. This bespoke composition is crafted from biodynamic Irish barley sourced from specific farms, meticulously married from a spectrum of single farm origin whiskies matured in ex-bourbon, French oak (Château Palmer wine), and Moscatel casks. It is presented free from colouring and chill-filtration, offering a fresh, dynamic, and terroir-driven expression.

Nose
Fresh and elegant, with notes of white fruits (pear, apple), aromatic herbs (sage, verbena), vanilla, and candied lemon, alongside pure malted aromas. It evolves to reveal peppery, licorice, and acacia honey notes, with a prominent basket of Williams pears.
Palate
Lively and refined, starting with herbaceous (cut hay, straw) and milky (coconut, almond) notes, along with spiciness (ginger, coriander) and a subtle medicinal quality. The mid-palate evokes a green barley field, leading to flavors of yellow melon, white peach, and almond.
Finish
Long and subtle, with eucalyptus, rosemary, and savory emphasizing a smoky and freshly herbaceous character. Vanilla flavors (custard) prolong the experience, concluding with malty, fruity (pear, mirabelle), and floral (lily, lavender) retro-olfaction.
