Description

Wemyss Malts is an independent bottler and blender of fine malts, part of Wemyss Family Spirits. The Spice King is a small batch, hand-crafted Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, known for its complex and spicy personality. It combines single malts from various Scottish distilleries, including Speyside, Highland, and Islay, selected for their distinctive character. This non-chill filtered whisky offers a balance of sweet, salty, and peppery smoke notes. [0, 5, 16, 17, 20, 23]

Nose
A rich marmalade glaze on baked pastries with a dusting of cinnamon, black pepper, and nutmeg. It also presents notes of orange blossom, well-polished wood, and a faint, mellow sweet smoke. Some detect chili-covered mango slices and paprika. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 13, 14, 16, 23]
Palate
Toasted oat and ginger biscuits with walnuts and crystallised fruits, enjoyed with spiced hot chocolate. There's a big pepper and salt combination, with cinnamon, ginger, brown sugar, and oak. Subtle smoky flavour, with hints of lemon tarts, burnt heather, and liquorice. Some find a blast of salty sea spray. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 13, 14, 16, 23]
Finish
A toasted warmth lingers with tingling cracked pepper and a light, ashy aftertaste with a briney hint. Charred oak, spicy zest, and floral peppery peat are also present, with distant smoke. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 14, 16, 23]
