Nose
A wonderfully complex and inviting nose, showing medicinal notes and the classic Islay character, but with underlying layers of fruit and sweetness. Hints of smoked bacon, tar, and iodine mingle with ripe orchard fruits, honey, and a touch of vanilla. There's also a subtle maritime influence, with notes of sea spray and damp pebbles.
Palate
The palate is rich and oily, delivering a powerful burst of smoky peat, followed by a wave of sweet and savoury flavours. Burnt sugar, treacle, and dark chocolate are balanced by a hint of salt and black pepper. The medicinal notes from the nose are present, but softened by a creamy texture and a long, warming finish.
Finish
Long and lingering, with a satisfying warmth. The smoky peat fades slowly, leaving behind notes of dark fruit, espresso, and a touch of liquorice. A truly memorable and complex dram.
