Description

Behind this name hides the distillery of the Orkney Islands Highland Park, a distillery which uses its own peat from the nearby hills of Hobbister Moor to dry the barley still malted on site. This version distilled in 2014 and aged in old Butts makes us navigate between subtly smoky notes, white fruits and the rich and oily character characteristic of the Very Cloudy range.

Nose
Initial burst of peat smoke, with hints of bonfire and a touch of maritime influence. Subtle sweet notes, such as vanilla or honeyed malt. Earthy undertones, reminiscent of damp soil and moss. A spicy edge, with a suggestion of black pepper.
Palate
Rich and full-bodied, with a pronounced peat smoke presence. Earthy flavours, with notes of wood smoke and a hint of salinity. A subtle sweetness emerges, with hints of dried fruit. Warming spice notes, such as clove and liqourice, add complexity.
Finish
Long and lingering finish, dominated by peat smoke and earthy notes. A hint of sweetness and a salty tang. The smoky notes fade, leaving behind a dry, ashy character.
