Description
William Lawson Distillers was a subsidiary firm set up by Martini & Rossi in 1972 which amalgamated its existing Clan Munro operation and managed its newly acquired distillery, Macduff. Its chief brands were the William Lawson's and Kind Edward I blends, and the Glen Deveron label, which was intended to sound more marketable in Italy than the name Macduff. Bacardi acquired Martini & Rossi in 1993. First produced in 1899, William Lawson's remains one of the world's best-selling blended Scotch whiskies. Crafted with Macduff malt whisky at its core, this blend of malt and grain whiskies has been aged in oak for at least 12 years before being bottled at a strength of 40% abv.
