Description

Wire Works Whisky from White Peak Distillery is Derbyshire's first Single Malt, commissioned in early 2018 and first released in February 2022. This 'Necessary Evil Stout Finish' is a limited edition, lightly peated single malt English whisky, a collaboration with Thornbridge Brewery. The whisky is initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of 3 years, then finished for several months in stout-seasoned ex-bourbon barrels that previously held Thornbridge's Imperial Stout, Necessary Evil. These stout casks sometimes began life aging Wire Works whisky or previously held Pedro Ximénez sherry before the stout. This dual maturation process imparts layers of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and dried fruit, complementing the whisky's cereal, fruity, and smoky notes. It is bottled at 51.3% ABV, at natural color, and is non-chill filtered.
