Description
Wire Works Whisky from White Peak Distillery is Derbyshire's first Single Malt, commissioned in early 2018 with the first distillation in April that year. The 'Wire Works' name comes from the distillery's location on the former Johnson & Nephew wire works on the banks of the River Derwent. Special Waters is an experimental release inspired by the practice of 'petites eaux' (small waters) sometimes used in Cognac and Armagnac production, where low-strength spirit is aged in wood and then married with full-strength spirit to determine bottling strength, extracting unique flavors. This release was matured in refill STR (shaved, toasted, recharred) and ex-bourbon casks. It is released at 57.3% ABV, non-chill filtered, and natural color, with a limited outturn of 393 bottles. The whisky is lightly peated, with approximately 10 PPM.
