Description

A Malt whisky distillery in the northerly reaches of Scotland's Highland region. It was established in 2013 and was constructed upon the same site that the original Wolfburn distillery had stood in the early 19th century. The name is derived from the nearby water source. Wolfburn Love Potion is a limited release from the Thurso distillery, distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2022. It was mostly matured in Oloroso sherry casks, with a minor contribution of fresh bourbon barrel matured whisky. The final product is an extremely fragrant and well-balanced dram, released as a Valentine's Edition 2022.

Nose
Pleasant yellow fruit notes of apricot, peach, and apple, with a touch of grapefruit, marzipan, and orange zest. There are also floral hints, some creaminess, salted butter, and a very minor marine, iodine component.
Palate
Spicy with notes of white pepper, cinnamon, licorice, ginger, and nutmeg, which initially dominate. Creamy yellow fruits, lemon peel, apples, pears, vanilla, dried fruit, toasted nuts, cherries, toffee, light oak, pressed flowers, and gentle wood tannins emerge.
Finish
Medium to long, creamy and lemon-based, with persistent minerality. It can be quite dry and slightly bitter, with spicy notes and hints of chestnuts.
