Description

Wolfburn Distillery, located in Thurso, Caithness, is Scotland's northernmost mainland distillery, revived in 2013 near the site of an original 1821 distillery. The Northland is their flagship expression, first released in 2016. It is matured in American oak quarter casks, is non-chill filtered, and retains its natural color.

Nose
The aroma begins sweet and fruity, accompanied by a fresh sea breeze. In the background, citrus aromas, especially lemon, as well as fresh grain and a hint of peat appear.
Palate
On the palate, the whisky begins sweetly, with nutty notes. This is followed by fruity notes of grapes, accompanied by honey, before coffee and dark chocolate come to the fore - complex and balanced.
